In case you missed them, we've compiled a list of the latest US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) recalls posted this week.

JustFoodForDogs Voluntarily Recalls Three Daily Diets because of Possible Listeria monocytogenes Health Risk from Green Beans—January 19, 2018

JustFoodforDogs has voluntarily recalled the following dog food meal products in all sizes: Beef & Russet Potato, Fish & Sweet Potato, and Turducken. The company uses 100% United States Department of Agriculture and other restaurant grade ingredients in all pet food products, and as the green beans used in these meals could potentially be contaminated with Listeria, the company has issued an alert to the public. The bacteria can affect animals that consume the product, although Listeriosis is rare in dogs. Humans who intentionally or unintentionally ingest the dog food or come into contact with contaminated feces from a pet that has consumed the food are also at risk.

Flawless Beauty, LLC Issues Voluntary Recall of Unapproved Drugs—January 19, 2018

Flawless Beauty, LLC, has issued a voluntary recall of 19 different products (all lots) sold individually or as part of multi-unit kits, alleged by the US Food and Drug Administration to be misbranded or unapproved new drugs pursuant to the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act. Although the company has not received reports of adverse events associated with these products, the FDA believes that these drugs present serious public health risks. The products include: Relumins Advanced Glutathione kits w/ 900, 1500, and 3000 mg vials, Relumins Vitamin C Solvent ampules, Tatiomax Glutathione Whitening kits with 600, 1200, and 1800 mg vials, Laroscorbine Platinum Vitaminc C with Collagen (1100 mg), among others.

Arthri-D, LLC Recalls Arthri-D Lot# 1701-092 Because of Possible Health Risk—January 21, 2018

Due to potential Salmonella contamination, Arthri-D has recalled its Dietary Supplement Arthri-D 120ct, Lot# 1701-092. The product comes in a 225 cc, white plastic HDPE bottle marked with the aforementioned number on the label with a manufacturing date of March 2017 stamped on the side; it was distributed nationwide through mail orders. Routine testing conducted by the company found the bacteria present in 1 bottle. Further testing and retesting of the product has not yielded further detection of the bacteria; however, out of abundance of caution, the company decided to issue a product recall.

Break Ventures/California Basics Recalls “Zero For Him” 150ct Lot# 1710-638 Because of Possible Health Risk—January 21, 2018

Another dietary supplement, “Zero For Him 150 ct” has been recalled due to potential Salmonella contamination. Break Ventures/California Basics’ product was distributed through Amazon nationwide. It comes in a 400 cc, light amber PETE bottle marked with the aforementioned lot number on the bottom of the bottle; the expiration date stamped on the side reads November 2020. As of January 21, 2018, no illnesses have been reported in connection with the product; however, routine testing done by the company found the presence of Salmonella in 1 bottle. Further testing did not reveal presence of Salmonella, but out of abundance of caution the company decided to recall the product.

National Frozen Foods Corporation Recalls Frozen Green Beans and Frozen Mixed Vegetales Because of Possible Health Risk—January 24, 2018

Due to potential Listeria monocytogenes contamination, the National Frozen Foods Corporation has decided to voluntarily recall a limited quantity of Not-Ready-To-Eat Individually Quick Frozen (IQF) green beans and IQF mixed vegetables. Following cooking preparation instructions on the labels of master cases or packages will effectively reduce the risk of exposure to this bacterium. The recalled products were distributed in bulk to foodservice accounts in packaged containers to several US states. The recalled products were distributed between August 18, 2017 and January 12, 2018.

Rich Products Corporation Recalls Beef Products due to Possible Listeria Contamination—January 24, 2018

The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) reports that Rich Products Corporation is recalling about 3420 pounds of beef meatball products due to potential contamination with Listeria monocytogenes. The ready-to-eat frozen beef meatballs were produced on December 17, 2017, and have an established number of 5336 inside the USDA mark of inspection. The recalled products have been shipped to distributors in Alabama, Florida, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, and Virginia.

FSIS Issues Public Health Alert for Chicken and Pork Products Produced Without the Benefit of Inspection—January 24, 2018

A public health alert has been issued by the USDA’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS), as about 140 pounds of a chicken and pork product has been produced and distributed by Pigeon Caterers, Inc. to Carnival Brands without the benefit of federal inspection. As of January 24, 2018, there have been no confirmed reports of adverse reactions associated with consumption of this product. However, when products are produced without the benefit of full inspection, there is a possibility of adverse health consequences..
