A Brazilian participant in the AstraZeneca and Oxford University COVID-19 vaccine trial has died, according to the Brazilian health authority Anvisa and reported by Reuters.
It was also reported the trial was going to continue according to Oxford University. “There have been no concerns about safety of the clinical trial,” according to a statement that was made by Oxford.
The Brazilian newspaper O Globo reported that the volunteer had been given a placebo.
Back in September, the AstraZeneca/Oxford University COVID-19 vaccine trial being held in the United Kingdom was halted after a participant suffered an adverse event. The trial was resumed in the UK, but has not done so in the United States.
The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) started an investigation into the adverse event.
