Debra Goff, PharmD, FCCP, infectious disease clinical pharmacist at the Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, explains how technology can help with antibiotic stewardship. For one, Dr. Goff explains how electronic health care records can help stewardship programs. At her university, Ohio State, they implemented an alert that would help with the management of Staphylococcus aureus bacteremia. Dr. Goff also notes that medical apps can also be useful for physicians, pharmacists, and nurses in that they can help guide them when it comes to the prescribing, monitoring, and utilization of different antibiotics.
