In a statement from White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre, she announced this morning that President Joe Biden has tested positive for COVID-19. According to the statement, he is experiencing mild symptoms and is going to begin a regimen of Paxlovid. This is the President’s first bout with the virus. He has been double vaccinated and has had two rounds of boosters. His most recent booster was administered to him at the end of March.

Per standard protocol for any positive case at the White House, the White House Medical Unit will inform all close contacts of the President during the day today. His last previous test for COVID-18 was Tuesday, and he tested negative.

In the same statement, Jean-Pierre said they would provide daily updates of the President’s condition.
