Benjamin Young, MD, PhD, Senior Vice President, Chief Medical Officer, International Association of Providers in AIDS Care, explains the Fast-Track Cities initiative.

Interview Transcript (slightly modified for readability):

“The Fast-Track Cities initiative is a joint initiative between the International Association of Providers of AIDS Care (IAPAC), the Joint United Nations Programme on HIV/AIDS (UNAIDS), UN-Habitat, and the city of Paris. It is a four-way collaboration and those are the core partners.

[The initiative] was launched in 2015 with the goal of bringing cities and municipalities together to rapidly accelerate the implementation of the UNAIDS 2020 targets, namely, the 90-90-90 targets. We believe that cities are incubators for rapid acceleration of policy, and simultaneously, places where local governments are closer to the actual needs of the communities.”
