Interview Transcript (slightly modified for readability)

“[When it comes to what we recommend] to a caretaker, again, it all goes back to handwashing with these multidrug-resistant organisms; that’s the main thing that someone can do to prevent infection. But the other thing to know is that, family members, if they’re taking care of their loved one, as long as they’re healthy themselves, even if they become colonized with Candida auris, they’re not likely to have infection, like truly invasive infection that would cause problems. Generally, family members or caretakers need to worry about it, but what they can do is wash their hands before and after taking care of their loved one.”
