Dumkow is the antimicrobial stewardship clinical pharmacist and PGY2 infectious diseases residency program director at Trinity Health Grand Rapids in Michigan. Her research and practice interests include expanding antimicrobial stewardship and clinical pharmacy practice to outpatient settings, including the emergency department.
Incoming SIDP President Lisa Dumkow, PharmD, FIDP, BCIDP, highlighted plans to expand mentorship, strengthen research collaboration, and move the organization's initiatives forward. She also offered insights into the new combined MAD-ID/SIDP meeting.
This time of year means new trainees will begin their careers and are excited to take on research projects. However, they may have limited to no experience in this area. Here is an opportunity to give them structure and guidance when committing to longitudinal trainee research.
As the first line of acute care, emergency departments are key stewards of antibiotics.
