In case you missed them, we've compiled a list of the latest US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) recalls posted this week.

The following is a list of recalls issued by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the United States Department of Food and Agriculture (USDA) from the past week or so:

Starwest Botanicals Inc. Product Recalls Organic Cardamom Pods Green (Whole) Due to Possible Salmonella Contamination—March 9, 2018

Starwest Botanicals has issued a voluntary recall of their Starwest Botanicals Organic Cardamom Pods Green (Whole) product, which is packaged in Mylar 1-pound bags as well as bulk packs.

The product was sold nationwide by 3different methods: shipping directly to company customers who purchased online via the website; shipping to customers who purchased via mail order; or held for customer pick-up at Starwest Botanicals. To date, there have not been any associated illnesses reported.

PDX Aromatics Recalls Kratom Powder Because of Possible Health Risk—March 10, 2018

PDX Aromatics of Portland, Oregon DBA Kraken Kratom, Phytoextractum, and Soul Speciosa os recalling some powder prodcuts that contain kratom, an opioid substitute. The powder products that have been affected are packaged in plastic heat-sealed pouches and sold in 28, 56, and 112 grams.

There were 10,000 units estimated to be sold directly to customers via company websites between January 18, 2018 and February 18, 2018.

Consumer Alert: Listeria Contamination in Maiden’s Creamery Wild Meadow Raw Goat Milk Cheese—March 12, 2018

New York State Agriculture Commissioner Richard Ball today warned consumers not to eat The Maiden’s Creamery “Wild Meadow” Raw Goat Milk Cheese made by Mark Harvey, located at 1277 Copes Corner Road, South New Berlin, NY 13843 due to potential contamination with Listeria. However, no associated illnesses have been reported to date.

The product is packaged in various sizes of sealed flexible plastic packaging, with the plant number of 36-1315 and a code of 101. The consumer alert affects all packages with this code. This product was sold at the 2 markets: the Cooperstown Farmers’ Market, located at 101 Main St. Cooperstown, NY, between late December 2017 and early January 2018 and the Sunflower Natural Foods Market, located at 75 Mill Hill Rd. Woodstock, NY 12498, beginning on January 10, 2018.

Standard Meat Company Recalls Beef Products Due to Possible Salmonella Contamination—March 15, 2018

The USDA’s FSIS has announced that the Standard Meat Company has recalled up to 53,154 pounds of raw beef products that may potentially be contaminated with Salmonella. The raw beef products incorporated a non-meat ingredient, Au Jus Seasoning, that was found positive for the presence of Salmonella.

The frozen, marinated top sirloin items were produced on various dates between Feb. 19, 2018 and March 14, 2018.

The products subject to recall bear establishment number “EST. 33861” inside the USDA mark of inspection. These items were shipped to restaurant locations nationwide.

Alka-Seltzer Plus Products: Recall — Ingredients on Front Sticker May Not Match Product in Carton—March 16, 2018

Bayer has issued a voluntary recall for Alka-Seltzer packages that were sold only in the United States at Walmart, CVS, Walgreens, and Kroger. The recalled products can be identified by checking the Bayer logo on the front of the carton in the lower left corner; products with a logo that has an orange or green background has been included in the recall.

The reason for the recall is that ingredients on the front sticker may not match what the actual product is in the carton.

SMI Holdings, Inc Recalls Beef Products Due to Possible Salmonella Contamination—March 16, 2018

SMI Holdings, Inc. has announced that they are recalling about 484,800 pounds of beef products that could potentially be contaminated by Salmonella. Again, these products included a non-meat ingredient, Au Jus Seasoning, that has tested positive for Salmonella.

The frozen raw beef top sirloin steak items were produced on dates ranging from February 19, 2018 through March 14, 2018.

The recalled products bear an establishment number of EST. 19113 inside the USDA mark of inspection.
