Contagion Live News Network: Coronavirus Briefing for May 20, 2020

Video

An update on our daily coverage.

Hello and thank you for joining Contagion. I’m assistant editor Grant Gallagher, here with an infectious disease news brief.

As many anecdotal accounts can attest, COVID-19 places the physical and mental health of healthcare workers at risk. In our latest Public Health Watch, Contagion contributor Brian Dunleavy examines clinician wellness during the pandemic. While many have justifiably praised health care workers during this time, Dunleavy argues that action to protect and reward them must follow suit.

We also reported on Inovio sharing positive preclinical data for its SARS-CoV-2 DNA vaccine, IN0-4800. In animal models, the vaccine candidate demonstrated neutralizing antibody and T cell immune response against the novel coronavirus.

And lastly, we chronicled 2 patient case series which suggest the prone position could allow for ventilation without intubation for some COVID-19 patients.
