Salmonella-Related Recalls

July 8: Natureen International Inc, of Walnut, California, recalled 244 bags of Wei-Chuan Dried Black Fungus Slice (2.5 oz) after the California Department of Public Health detected potential Salmonella contamination. The product was distributed to retail stores and supermarkets across 11 Midwestern states, including Illinois, Michigan, and Ohio. Packages are labeled with lot number XJ17 and expiration date EXP:20260417.1

July 14: World Market recalled Emek Spread Pistachio Cacao Cream with Kadayif (9.7 oz jars, Batch No 250401, Best Before April 1, 2027), after Salmonella was detected by the FDA during routine testing. The product was distributed between June 11 and July 9, 2025, and sold primarily in World Market stores across 30 states, including CA, TX, FL, IL, and NY. The affected jars are sold in clear glass containers with date codes etched on the lid and UPC 8 69652 10130 1.2

July 16: Chetak LLC Group recalled multiple lots of Deep brand frozen Sprouted Moong and Sprouted Mat (Moth) 16 oz products following FDA detection of Salmonella. The recall includes lot codes such as 24330, 25072, 25108, 24353, and 25171. The items were distributed nationwide through retail locations and sold by Chetak branches in New Jersey, California, Illinois, Florida, and Texas. Production has been suspended as the company works with regulators to investigate the source.3

Several food products were recalled in July 2025 across the US due to contamination concerns involving Salmonella, Listeria monocytogenes, and Clostridium botulinum.

Tuna salad products from major grocery chains were pulled after being linked to Listeria-contaminated breadcrumbs supplied by Reser’s Fine Foods.

A salted fish product was recalled nationwide due to improper evisceration, posing a serious risk of botulism from Clostridium botulinum.

July 10: Wiet Peeters Farm Products Limited of Ontario, Canada, recalled several mushroom products due to potential Listeria monocytogenes contamination. Affected items include Aunt Mid’s Fresh Sliced Mushrooms (227g, UPC 0 33383 676005), Peeters Mushroom Farm Cremini Sliced (227g, UPC 0 68414 96960 3), and Peeters Mushroom Farm Thick Slice Mushroom (10 lb). All are marked with a best-before date of 25JL04 and were distributed in Michigan and Ohio. Testing by the Canadian Food Inspection Agency revealed Listeria in one lot of 227g sliced mushrooms, and other items were produced on the same line.4

July 11: LLK Trading Inc, of Linden, New Jersey, recalled 200g packages of “Needle Mushrooms” due to Listeria monocytogenes detected during FDA routine testing. The product was distributed to Bally Produce Corp in Maspeth, NY, and sold to DATANG Supermarket Inc. The mushrooms come in clear plastic packaging with a blue, non-transparent bottom. While no illnesses have been reported, sales have been suspended while the company and the FDA investigate.5

July 21: Albertsons Companies issued a recall of multiple tuna salad products, such as sandwiches, snack trays, and salads, sold at Albertsons, Randalls, and Tom Thumb stores in Arkansas, Louisiana, Oklahoma, and Texas. The items were supplied by Reser’s Fine Foods and affected by a recall involving breadcrumbs contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes. Products bear sell-by dates ranging from July 16 to July 19, 2025. No illnesses have been linked to this recall.6

July 21: Jewel Osco stores in Illinois, Indiana, and Iowa also voluntarily recalled a range of tuna salad products after being notified of a supplier issue involving Listeria-contaminated breadcrumbs from Reser’s Fine Foods. Recalled items include croissant sandwiches, salad trays, and deli-pack tuna salads with sell-by dates between July 16 and July 19, 2025. No illnesses have been reported.7

July 26: Albertsons Companies expanded its earlier recall to include additional tuna salad products sold at Albertsons, Randalls, and Tom Thumb stores in Arkansas, Louisiana, Oklahoma, and Texas. The expanded recall covers ready-to-eat salads and snack trays with sell-by dates ranging from July 23 to July 29, 2025. All products were supplied by Reser’s Fine Foods and include breadcrumbs recalled for Listeria contamination.8

Botulinum-Related Recall

July 15: Krasniy Oktyabr Inc USA of Brooklyn, New York, recalled its Aral Silver Vobla brand “Eviscerate Dry Salted Vobla” due to improper evisceration, increasing the risk of Clostridium botulinum contamination. The product was labeled “Product of Kazakhstan” and distributed nationwide in clear vacuum-sealed bags with blue labels containing two whole fish. The recall was initiated after New York State inspectors determined that the fish had not been properly eviscerated, which poses a serious risk of botulism.9
