Peggy Lillis Foundation Unveils Agenda for its C diff Summit and Lobby Day

The organization announced this year's event, which aims to bring together stakeholders in Washington, DC, to advance awareness, policy, and patient-centered solutions for Clostridioides difficile infection.

The Peggy Lillis Foundation (PLF) has released the agenda for its 11th Annual National C diff Summit and Lobby Day, set to take place April 13–14, 2026, in Washington, DC. The event will convene a broad coalition of patients, survivors, caregivers, clinicians, researchers, industry leaders, and policymakers, all focused on addressing the ongoing public health threat posed by C diff infections.

Building on more than a decade of advocacy work, PLF has trained survivors and families to become effective public speakers, peer supporters, and policy advocates. The annual Summit has become a cornerstone event for the community, fostering collaboration and amplifying patient voices while highlighting scientific and clinical advancements.

The 2026 program will feature expert-led sessions on key topics such as access to microbiota therapies for recurrent infections, diagnostic stewardship, prevention gaps, and pediatric C diff. Speakers include figures from institutions such as Emory University, the University of Maryland, Duke University, and Boston Children’s Hospital. A dedicated panel will also spotlight the experiences of parents whose children have battled recurrent infections, underscoring the real-world impact of the disease.

“Sixteen years after the death of my mother, Peggy, there has been progress but also setbacks. C diff continues to cause harm, and too many patients still struggle to access timely diagnosis, effective treatment, and informed care,” Christian John Lillis, co-founder and CEO of the Peggy Lillis Foundation, said in a statement. “The Summit and Lobby Day bring together the people closest to this issue to push for solutions that improve outcomes and save lives. When lived experience, science, and policy come together, we accelerate progress.”

In addition to educational sessions, attendees will participate in hands-on advocacy training designed to equip them with tools to influence policy and support patients. Topics will include lobbying techniques, testifying before legislators, and engaging with regulatory agencies such as the FDA.

Lobby Day

The event will culminate in Lobby Day on Capitol Hill, where participants will meet directly with members of Congress and their staff. Advocates will push for sustained investment in antimicrobial resistance initiatives, microbiome-based therapies, and policies aimed at reducing the burden of C diff infections nationwide.

As the largest annual gathering of C diff advocates and stakeholders, the Summit continues to serve as a critical platform for education, collaboration, and coordinated action. Registration for the event is free and open to all individuals committed to ending the harm caused by C diff.
