Peggy Lillis Foundation Launches “See C diff” Campaign as National C diff Awareness Month Begins

The foundation has unveiled its 2025 campaign, highlighting the deadly toll and long-term consequences of these infections through nationwide events, education initiatives, and tributes throughout November.

The Peggy Lillis Foundation (PLF) for C diff Education & Advocacy has announced the full slate of activities for National Clostridioides difficile (C diff) Awareness Month, observed each November, alongside the continuation of its flagship “See C diff” campaign. Now in its seventh year, the initiative aims to draw national attention to —America’s most common healthcare-associated infection and one that remains underrecognized despite its severe health and emotional impacts. This year’s campaign will focus on the substantial mortality associated with C diff and the long-term toll the infection takes on survivors and their families.

C diff is far more than diarrhea—it’s a systemic infection that can lead to sepsis and death,” Christian John Lillis, PLF Co-Founder and CEO,said in a statement. He noted that roughly 30,000 Americans die from C diff infections each year—surpassing annual HIV/AIDS deaths. Throughout 2025, the organization advanced its mission through national advocacy, including its 10th annual C diff Summit and Lobby Day in Washington, DC, and by commissioning its first nationwide survey, C diff Awareness in America, which revealed a 6% increase in public awareness over four years.
