“The best plan of action for reducing respiratory viral healthcare-associated infections in children is really just focusing on the basics, things like hand hygiene, making sure healthcare workers are vaccinated, making sure that healthcare workers don’t come to work when they’re ill, are just some of the basic strategies that we do to prevent all kinds of healthcare-associated infections, but they seem to be very important for viral infections as well. But one area that we don’t often focus as much for other infections like bloodstream infections, and things like that, is the role that families and visitors can play in transmitting these infections.”
